Postcard from the past

#Flashback #Friday

Hawa Mahal, or "Palace of Winds", in the pink city of Jaipur, India, built in 1798. Its construction's intention was simple: from the streets, the passers-by could not see the royal ladies since they had to strictly cover their faces. The latter, however, could observe everyday life... gaze out on the world and its happenings, but beautifully hidden.

In both ways, the impossible reach for the unreachable, and the truth of an unattainable reality.

Jogger(s) lover

I'm a baggy kinda girl, always have, always will; 1/2 time boyfriend look. When it comes to dress, I follow my mood, but most importantly, comfort is vital - and boy do men have that. Here is my faux leather joggers from Topshop, the best purchase since I came back to London.

The fact that it's leather make it easily 'versatile'; dress it down, dress it up, it's a style eye-catcher. I love the silver details, especially the zips below.

Zelfies: see how I like to wear it

Snood life

Reaching 0 and - soon, it's that time of year when both neck and head needs to be covered. My ultimate favourite for winter, a snood.

Invest in a good one, with lambswool and angora; I got mine from AllSaints years ago and it no longer exists, but try this similar one. Trust me, nothing more practical and coldproof - protect your skin,

cover up!

Caresst at night

Sleep is sacred, and so are the last minutes in bed before you surrender to the arms of Morpheus.
Because of my half-insomniac nature, I believe that a pre 'ritual' helps to prepare the body and mind for nightly 'rejuvenation'; sometimes it works, I'm relaxed and I sleep (hallef*lujah), sometimes it doesn't and I'll be tiredly wide awake thinking of a million things... regardlessly, it helps to slow things down, marking the end of a day.
So here are my 3 bed essentials...

Urban retreat lip treatment, crème abricot nails nourishment, both protection against the cold these days & finally, a touch of spray.

I've always loved a man's scent, but not just any... this is the one I love now.

Goodnight x

Boa Noite

You're wondering why suddenly portuguese* on the blog... well, I've been listening to a lot of bossa nova these days - maybe it's this period of the year, the weather, something in the air... in need of a tropical escape.

Late night 'zelfie'

I have to say, I've been swamped for the past weeks and am sorry for 'disappearing'. The blog has suffered and I'm going through the end of an incredible and insightful work experience (if you missed out, click here). Also, I'm having an affair with London (but sssh, few photos will come soon).
All I will say now is that I promise I will be back & more present on Ad Zastra - many things to share!

Sweet dreams

*(who saw THE game, THE hat-trick, THE way to the World Cup in less than 3 minutes...! CR defined 'CHAMPION')

produce (a picture or diagram) by making lines and marks on paper with a pencil, pen, etc.
an act of selecting randomly (...)

Today's draw of drawings, one of my favorite.

I love life drawing - it's peaceful, therapeutic, mind appeasing and somehow liberating. Just the body, your pencil, and air. It's all in the position, the gaze, and the analysis. I've never been pudic and have always embraced the human body and form, especially a woman's. My saying goes, 'nudity rhymes with beauty', that in my eyes it's art to contemplate before anything else (of course, in all honesty, I wouldn't think this way with EVERY single body in this world, but for the most part yes). I'm very happy with these two because of the experimentation with different medium (brown paper and dark thick ink pen) to highlight the manly silhouette. Always sign and date an art work - I'm glad I always did, so that I'm able to look back and reflect on my progress and skills.
My dexterity forte? Proportions.

I was addicted to this song in summer, and I still love it. Keeps me going, keeps me happy, great musical vibes from the past x

Hope everyone is having a great start to the week! Play on...!

EAU Yeah!

THIS IS HOW I ROLL (with the lid)

When I'm really, really dehydrated and thirsty... I can't think of a better liquid than water. It is the best drink, unbeautable! I drink liters every day, and so should everyone. Remember our body and mind needs it, as we're mostly made of it! (50-75%) Start and end your day with water, have a glass before or after every one of your meals. I add citrus fruits, mint, berries, watermelon + basil, cucumber... for a better refreshment (usually in summer). As a child I used to think of it as the most boring drink, no taste, but mostly thanks to sports I've grown to love it like can't-live-without.

If only I was in Geneva this weekend for the gala Etoiles en Hiver tonight ... a. because the Greeks know how to party (and that's enough already) b. because 'tomorrow' is quickly forgotten c. but especially, to wear a new beautiful dress that does not often come out of the closet...

(Ad Zastra loving the card... obviously)

Et voici ce que j'aurai porté, si seulement...

And here is what I would have worn, if only...

Happy feet

(Thank Buddha for these.)

Raise your feet if you are a working/active girl who likes to wear heels some days when you feel like conquering the day in style?

Unblemished face? Benefit's on the case.

I got this covered...

thanks to Benefit's Realness of Concealness *. Wait, I'm writing a beauty post? Guess I am.

MOVEMBER!( ื╭︿ ╮ ื)

Just like for BCAM (Breast Cancer Awareness Month) in October, it is now the month for some male awareness and I am in full support!
Grow your moustaches to fight against prostate cancer & other diseases!

Clean shaved now, I'm just trying to chose my style* (left to right)
 ...simply connoisseur ? ... à la Chaplin ? ...genius Dalí ? ... or mini-gringo ?
What do you gents think?

* I'm not sure of their growth & 'cultivation', but I can tell you my moustaches will stay all of November...

Feast in the East

Yesterday I went back to Shoreditch (East London) - hungry - and it was so nice to walk again in the streets where home once used to be. Nothing much had changed except Great Eastern Street which noticeably now has new various small shops, food and others. More and more the East side is becoming full of life, and over the years it seems that a good number of people want to move in that part of the town. Well I'm glad I can say I've spent four years of my life in what I like to call the 'East Triad' (Old Street-Hoxton-Shoreditch). How can one NOT love it...
